Our family had the opportunity to go home and visit for the first time in 4 years. The occasion was an unhappy one, but it was still joyous to see everyone. The girls had a great time visiting with their Grammy and Grandpa. It was the first time any of the girls really remember him. we also got to meet our 2 year old niece for the first time. She was a clone of her older sister, Aurora.
Seeing our friends was great. I could tell that they felt a little awkward because they are still trying to understand what God is doing in the lives of our family. I struggled with how to present the Gospel to them, but finally decided that, for now, the best approach is to follow the direction Jesus gave in Mark 5:19; "Go home and tell your family all the Lord has done for you, and how He has shown mercy to you.." I know it will take time fir them to be open to hearing the Gospel, and I pray that I will have more frequent trips home, so that I can continue to build a new relationship with them.
The main reason we went home was my friend's dad, Don Baker, was dying. Don was a Christian and he went home on August 30, 2010. He had multiple problems that finally took their toll on his body. I am glad that we were able to visit with him before he died. Please pray for his family and for all involved.
